New Year, Better Me

With the last couple months of 2018 being really hard for me, I was more than ready to welcome in the New Year. I have BIG goals this year, both personal and professional, and in order to attain them I have to first work on my mindset.

That is why I was excited to begin my happiness project when I woke up this morning.

For those of you who are new to my blog let me tell you what a happiness project is:

The concept of a happiness project was created by writer Gretchen Rubin. Rubin designed a 12 month plan to become happier in her every day life. Doing small things every month to make her daily routines more enjoyable and her overall life happier.

As soon as I read her book “The Happiness Project” I was all in. So.. I set out to make a happiness project of my own.

Every month is based around a certain theme. My theme this month is Mindfulness, which is extremely fitting considering the past couple months I have had. In addition to a theme, every month has daily tasks that you have to complete to fulfill your theme.

My tasks are: journaling and meditating right when I wake up, dancing naked, only listening to music once a day and taking a nap every single day.

Journaling and meditating are what are going to prepare me for the day so I can go into my day with a fresh slate and an open mind. Dancing naked will allow for me to become more mindful of my body and to learn to love it in all its forms. Additionally. only listening to music once a day will allow for me fill my mind with other more empowering content the rest of the day. Finally, taking a nap will allow for me to be more alert and break up my day between coaching and tutoring. Every time I complete a task I will colour in the square on my chart.

By the end of the month I hope to have the majority of the squares coloured in.

Another awesome aspect of this project is that once a new month starts you don’t forget about the tasks you did the month prior, you just add additional tasks onto them. That way as the year goes on you continue to create habits that will make your life more enjoyable overall.

I am so excited to have a year filled with growth and personal understanding. I am also very excited to see my careers take off because of it.

If you are interested in doing your own Happiness Project it’s not too late!! Go out now and get Rubin’ book, read her blog and begin to create your own themes.

Let’s make this year the happiest one yet!
