Take a Minute .. or maybe a Hour

Whenever you go through hard times do you ever blame yourself? I know I sure do.

Even if there is nothing I could control I blame myself for allowing it to happen. I blame myself for the thoughts I might have had. Or the the actions I didn’t take. I blame myself for everything… but sometimes I just have to remember that I have to allow the Universe to do her thing.

For a serious Type A personality like me it can be super hard. I can sometimes end up worrying so much that I end up having to take a day to just sit on the couch and relax.

Over the years I have come across some ways to prevent myself from being too controlling of my circumstances. Here are three:

  1. Do not react to the situation right away. Take a minute to calm down. If you react right away you end up becoming too involved and then you will try to control the circumstances even more.
  2. Distract yourself. I like putting on a good show or taking a nap. This allows my brain to not focus on the current situation. Most of the time, after distracting myself for a good hour I can better control my controlling nature (see what I did there, lol)
  3. Meditate. Before you react to anything that is going on take 5-10 minutes to clear your mind with a meditation. Doing a card pull also helps because it allows you to talk to the Universe and typically she tells you what you need to hear.
  • I am still trying to not be so controlling, because I know how much happier I will be if I could just allow everything to flow around me, but I thought that I would provide you guys with some of my tips that I have learned so far.
